Characteristics: Group meetings for education. Personal counseling available. Calories not counted everyday. Weight Watchers food available, but not required. Winning Points plan gives points to food. Every person gets a daily point allotment based on current weight.
Strengths: Nutritionally balanced. Targets slow, steady weight loss. Educates on how to maintain ideal weight. Personal daily exercise plan.

Jenny Craig Weight Loss Clinic
Characteristics: Weekly classes and personal counseling. Both Jenny Craig proportioned meals and grocery store foods are used.
Strengths: Recommends behavior education and practical eating skills. Expected weight loss 2 to 3 pounds per week.
Comments: They are very realistic and offer true education on weight loss.
Overeaters Anonymous
Characteristics: Group meetings ‘That’s a plus’. 12 step program deals with spiritual and physical aspects of overeating. No diets, weigh-ins or lectures on food. Primary goal is to stop compulsive eating.
Strengths: Encouraged to consult qualified professionals if interested in learning about food nutrition or seeking expert advice.
Weaknesses: Binge eating problems do not apply to everyone.
