One of my friends found out that Mens Health magazine was accusing the American Diabetes Association of rejecting or not accepting what could be a cure for type 2 diabetes. This is not new, this happen a few months ago, but I just found it interesting and decided to post it on my site.
You may be asking yourself what is that cure that they are rejecting, well, it is carbohydrates. And it makes sense. Why? Because unlike fat, protein, and fiber, which have no impact on blood sugar - carbohydrates such as sugar and starch are broken down quickly into glucose during digestion, which is then absorbed into the bloodstream.
Therefore, if you have diabetes, it would make sense to control your blood sugar by not consuming to much carbohydrates. But if you go to the ADA website, you will see the complete opposite, a food pyramid that rests on “Grains, Breads, and other Starches.
Incredible really, given that the ADA spent about $52 million on research last year. It seems the ADA have a better solution: medication. Men’s Health reports that the ADA recommends “metformin” - a drug with sales totaling $1.1 billion in 2005 and expecting to reach $1.4 billion in 2007. Its obvious they want the money and not what’s best for the patient’s.
That’s why there are more and more people that don’t trust the government. I find this ridiculous, they just want there billions without caring for does who have this terrible disease.
Whats your opinion on this matter?
