A great thing about going on a low carb diet is that you will be eating healthier than you ever imagined, but chances are your food choices will be limited which cab become boring quickly. For some people it is hard enough to be creative when they can eat whatever they want, yet alone when they have to eat low carb.
You should keep a few food necessities around your house to help you cook a great tasting meal that is high in muscle building protein. Some of these must haves include brown rice, flavored tuna, almonds, macadamia nuts, and brazil nuts (which are great sources of protein and omega 3 fatty acids which are known to slow the absorption of calories) yogurt, cottage cheese, low carb wraps, and a variety of cheese such as mozzarella, provolone, and muenster.
Think of these as your new staple foods and get rid of the bread, whole milk, and fatty dinner meats. As long as you keep these new low carb staples around your home you will have food for a simple snack or meal. I like to use cheese in many ways such as frying pepperoni in a pan with provolone or mozzarella on it, and top it with tomato sauce. You can also try a deli meat rolled with cream cheese and a sliver of dill pickles, it tastes like a sandwich intensified in flavor without the bread. I eat this daily and mix up the variety of meat.
You an also try yogurt topped with slivered almond, which makes for a deliciously filling and healthy snack. The low carb yogurts taste so good you can eat them alone. You can make low carb lasagna and other pasta recipes if you substitute whole wheat pastas. These staple foods will provide essential nutrients while staying within your low carb requirements.
