As i said in my previous article, dieting is losing it’s popularity by a huge rate, but now i saw a report that is very strange. Even thou dieting is not so popular anymore, obesity surgery has had a big increase rate.
Here are some numbers i got from the report:
*En 1998 770 had obesity surgery.
*En 2004 more then 15,000 had obesity surgery.
That is one of the biggest increases i have ever seen. The age of people who had this surgery also moved considerably. Does who had the operation were patients aged 18-55 and more then 300 teenagers aged 12 and 17.
I im very surprised that teenagers are permitted to have such serious operations, i always though they had to be 18.
The majority of the people who had bariatric surgery were women. The weird part is that man had a higher death rate then women.

The Beyonce weight loss program is a really healthy program that has helped millions. In doing this program you should always have someone with you to assist in the things you do. A study done a few weeks ago shows a big promise for those who are over wight. The popular weight loss supplement CLA can actually help people lose weight during the holiday season when they tend to over eat.
For this research, the University of Guelph and the University if Wisconsin recruited 42 overweight volunteers. Half of them were give a daily dose of 3.2 grams of CLA for about six months and the others got a inactive placebo pill.
And here is what the researchers had to say about the results, “Despite no differences between the CLA and the placebo group with regards to calorie intake or physical activity throughout the study, the CLA group still managed to lose weight prior to the holiday season and didn’t gain any weight over the holidays,”
Those people who had the placebo pill gained 2 pounds during the months of November and December, but those taking CLA lost 3 pounds of fat during the same period.
CLA is a type of fat that is found in dairy products. This type of fat was shown to burn existing fat in the body, and the study done by these two Universities confirms this.
This study was published in the Journal of Obesity. Now you know the great benefits that CLA can have in your body, but by no means CLA is a miracle pill, i don’t want you guys to think this can solve all your weight problems.
OK, by now I’m sure you have seen all over the news that diet soda can increase the risk of heart disease. Why do i hate this news? Well for one, i like diet soda very much, also it helps me cut hundreds of calories per week.
I may have to find an alternative to diet soda. One drink i have found to be good is Diet Ice Tea. It has only 5 calories and 0 sugar, so maybe this will be my substitute.
So how did they find out about this?
Many researchers had some idea that diet soda was bad for you, they had done some small test, but this time they went all out.
They took more then 6,000 participants who were free of any metabolic syndrome, and told them to drink diet soda for a period of time. What they found was that consumption of one or more soft drinks a day was associated with almost a 45 percent higher risk of developing metabolic syndrome during a follow-up period of 4 years.
So i guess people are now going to find other alternatives like me. Let me know what diet drinks you like.
There are hundreds or maybe even thousands of diet pills for humans, but now its not just us.The FDA recently approved a brand new Diet pill for dogs from the company Pfizer. The drug is called Sientrol.
…”Americans’ increasingly hectic schedules also mean that many dogs are spending their days cooped up in houses or apartments, eating out of boredom and getting very little exercise because owners are too busy to make it to the dog park. When owners do get home, they tend to lavish their pets with treats.” (via Washington Post)
The Diet pill for dogs is going to cost between $1 and $2 per day. It will come with very strong warnings in case people are ignorant enough to swallow the pill.
If people do actually swallow the pill “we ll know its going to happen” then they can have serious reactions like diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and much more bad effects.
There was a rumor saying that if you eat slow, you can actually lose weight. Now, its been proven that the rumor is a fact. A new research study provides the first ever scientific proof that if you consume food slowly, you well end up eating less. It even says that you will enjoy the meal a lot more.
The study found that when women took there time eating there meal, they consumed about 80 fewer calories compared to when they were told to eat as fast as possible. They study concluded that by eating slowly, you can reduce your calorie intake by 200 and 230 per day.
They only down side to this study is that, they did not do it with men, so nobody knows if men are going to have the same results. The problem is that when you eat fast, you don’t realize your full, but when you eat slowly, you brain has the time to realize that you don’t need any more food.
I think this is very interesting, I’m going to try this out, how easy could it get, just eat a little slower then usual.
International researchers have found that keeping active physically can cut the risk of developing colon cancer.
Scientist studied and analyzed data from over 400,000 people in 10 European countries, and found those who maintained an active life style with some type of exercise were 22% less likely to develop the disease.
The researches mentioned that an hour a day of intense activity or 2 hours of moderate activity would be more then enough to reduce the likely hood of developing cancer.
Dr Lesley Walker said, “If you combine regular physical activity with a good diet you are more likely to maintain a healthy body weight which will also help to reduce your risk of bowel cancer.”
The same study found that active people had a 35% less chance to have a tumor in the right side of the colon. If the person was already in shape and were active then the risk of developing the tumor was reduced even further.
I’m glad that this study was made and published. Now people can see how exercise can change there life completely. In my personal opinion, doing exercise can extend the life span of anybody.
For lots of people, bypass surgery may be the best solution for long term weight loss.
A new study has determine that almost 125,000 Americans had some type of weight loss surgery.
People decide to make the hard decision of going threw gastric bypass surgery mainly because there efforts of losing weight naturally did not work for them. Also, sometimes doctors recommend to there patients that they need this surgery because there obesity is just to much.
I’m don’t really like the idea of bypass surgery, but I have to accept that thanks to this, many lives have been saved.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 30 percent of the U.S adults are obese. And one out of every three Americans are overweight. People who are obese have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher and people who are overweight have a body mass index between 25 and 29.
If you have a BMI of under 25 then you are considered to be in your ideal weight.
Researchers have found something that may leave us pretty surprised. They found that people who eat a low protein diet helps protect them against some types of diseases, while people who consume lots of protein have a risk to develop cancer.
The study found that people who are lean, consume low proteins, low calories and do regular exercise have lower levels of plasma growth factors and IGF-1. Plasma growth factor and IGF-1 have been found to be linked to certain types of cancer like colon cancer and prostate cancer.
A professor at Washington University said, “We know there is a link between nutrition and cancer,” he also mentioned that “There are certain cancers that are linked with levels of IGF-1, which is an important growth factor that stimulates the proliferation of cells.”
They found that people who consume less protein have lower levels of IGF-1, while those who consume lots of protein had higher levels of IGF-1, which is very dangerous. They study was published in the American Journal of clinical Nutrition, this month.
Basically, for the study, they got a group of people to consume low proteins, while the other group consumed a high protein diet. The end conclusion was that those with high protein intake had high levels of IGF-1 and had more chances of developing cancer, while the low protein group had lower levels of IGF-1 and thereby have better chances of not developing any type of cancer.
This is very shocking for me because i always though that lots of protein was good for your body. When i was younger i use to consume lots of protein shakes after my daily workout, um i guess i can be in trouble, lol.
A new study done recently concluded that calories from beverages make up almost 23% of the average American diet.
- Milk: 8 ounces per day.
- Coffee: 8.9 ounces per day.
- Water: 39 ounces per day.
- Sugar: 17.5 ounces per day.
Drink consumption:
- Teenage boys: 10%
- Americans In General: 6.4%
- Teenage girls: 9%
But this study is nothing new because a earlier study done in 1999 showed almost the same info.
